I was thinking if you colud add an option or even a cheat to show "normal" non acid colors
Personally, i think The games art-style adds to the atmosphere, of course, the bright colours might not be pleasing to everyone. But i doubt the game will introduce Texture packs like minecraft.
Be honest, on a scale from 1 to Vaporwave, which fits Drift Stage better
Hahaha that is facking awesome!!!
It's not that they're bright, they are strange, the first time that I saw the game I thought they were reversed (as in a negative). However, colors aside, I like the visual style too, just thought that ridge racer/outrun-style colors might add to the nostalgia factor.
@gts_r is right, originally the colors were so bright because of how the TV's presented them. While i like the picked colors I too would like to have an option to tone it down a little.
I have to agree.
I've found the demo stage isn't exactly easy on the eyes after a few sessions. The blue is just overwhelming on my monitor.
I would like it if the colours could actually be toned down a little - or even throw in an option to change it. I preferred the style of the seaside track shown off in the trailer. The part where the lookalike AE86 is drifting Initial D style. The colour palette for that particular stage appears to be easy on the eyes, and still maintains the unique visual direction.
You made me wonder what the game would look like in "realistic" colours, so I did a screen grab and let Paint.NET do the rest.
Honestly, I think The Original Colours look great....Just as great as the Realistic attempt I made , I might make more of these with the scenery In it.
If Steam Workshop support ever allowed texture packs, This is defenitly something I'd be willing to look into further.
Let me know what you think.
Awesome - I think that's what we need. But rather then changing eye blasting green to red I'll go just go for normal green. Maybe its possible to have two different colour mappings in the engine instead of doubling the materials.
Could you give the backgrounds for both settings (city and beach/island) a run?
I picked red, since it's a warmer colour then Lime Green, and Dark green doesn't really suit it.I'll go and edit some more images. It might take some time with the backgrounds though.
I like the neon style, but I like the more normal style too.
Palette options are definitely a must.
Added another comparison Image with a bit more of the Sunset Highway track, The skyboxes seem fairly good on both ones, so i Didn't change them.
I made the buildings more shades of brown, as inspired by This Image
Oh and look, It's a panda
Side of track arrow bilboards are still too bright. And you haven't touch sky, its still purple. Except for that, its awesome
I left the sky purple because the sun is setting.
And I left the Arrows bright, because those are usually made of reflective material. But I guess I could make it darker.
Yeah, it is purple, but not this eye hurting tone of purple.
If Drift Stage hurts your eyes, you should adjust your monitors gamma and brightness, or possibly sit further away from your monitor.
The Textures as they are now don't hurt my eyes or anything, They are a nice change of scenery, but I also like the normalized ones, as they remind me of Ridge Racer, The yellow one especially looks a lot like the Yellow Solvalou . BTW Saw the tower you posted on Twitter, looked very nice. It's placed in the large spiral corner right?
I should also be able to add some gamma/brightness/contrast options in the game itself.
This looks very good, it joins the Amiga-style colors with modern-day 3D graphics. What I liked best was the red BMW (the one that's turned orange now).
Got Inspired by the Orange Reddish colour that is on the IRL production car.
More red on the way though
I got to admit. Those realistic colors look really good.
