My current speakers are a set of Klipsch GMX-A 2.1, and the satellites have seen better days. They are constantly fading in/out; it used to be a push of the speaker or the RCA jack would restore it for a long while (weeks, perhaps). Now, there is almost ever only one satellite actually working at a time.
I've opened them up, fixed what I could (nothing looked pulled, so no soldering), squeezed the RCA jacks closed a bit, checked the cable from everything to everything. Even opened up the control pod, but now I'm just going to replace the whole shebang.
Recently bought some AudioEngine A5+, and they are sweet as home theater type speakers (currently hooked to our new LCD TV, no sub).
Now I am looking at either another pair of A5+, or A2+ with a sub. Anything in the subwoofer category I should look at, that pairs well with these speakers (other than the AudioEngine S8 sub)? I was thinking of keeping the sub (which I've had zero problems with), and just buying newer speakers, but realize I need (I think?) the control pod to connect everything. Plus, there is no crossover control that I can see on the sub itself.
As for their use, mostly music (EDM stuff), games, and probably something like myNoise.net at night.
I posted this elsewhere, but I thought you guys might give less pedantic responses, perhaps. Please?
